ROUND CUT DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RINGS
ROUND BRILLIANT CUT
On your GIA report or dossier you will see the round diamond called a round brilliant. A round diamond will have approximately 57 facets and if the stone has been cut well it will offer brilliance, brightness, and scintillation like no other shape. Only round diamonds have the cut grade on a GIA report. Every other shape is called a fancy shape with its own name, check our other diamond section to read up on those.
CHOOSE EXCELLENT
Where possible choose an excellent cut as this means that the diamond will offer the best sparkle. Moving away from excellent affects this and can result in stone that does not perform.
HEARTS AND ARROWS
Exclusive to round diamonds if it has been cut in a certain way it may show patterns that look like arrows from the top and hearts from the bottom when viewed through a special loupe
LASER INSCRIPTION
You’re diamond should be laser inscribed, this will offer security so that you can match the diamond to the report and check the number on the GIA website.
There are many things to consider when choosing a diamond for your round cut diamond engagement ring such as the cut, colour, clarity, carat weight but also look out for measurements, girdle thickness, fluorescence, abnormal hues, laser inscriptions, visible flaws, inclusion position and other important factors.
